A safe space where you can show up as and where you are.
My name is Bryanna Cassidy, pronouns she/they.
I am a queer, neurodivergent student counsellor of mixed European descent, living as an uninvited settler on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen – speaking peoples (The Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ nations).
I have been working in community care for the past five years, supporting children, youth and families from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. I feel so inspired by peoples’ unique outlooks on life, and hold so much respect for the creative ways that they all find to stay alive and keep themselves safe. I believe that everyone is doing the best that they can, and that resistance is always present in the face of oppression.
As a counsellor, I hope to provide a safe space where you can show up as and where you are. I trust in your knowing and your lived experience, and strive to work with you to co-create a counselling experience that is in alignment with your values and goals. Working through a disability justice and queer theory framework, I bring in elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy and Emotion-focused Therapy. I believe that so much healing can happen when we are able to contextualize our experiences, find safety within ourselves, and connection to our environment and community.
In addition to being a counsellor, I am also a dog loving, frog catching and craft making person with a passion for all things nature. I can often be found looking at moss, listening to the sounds of the forest floor or splashing along the shoreline. When I’m not prancing around outside, I tend to craft (I’m really into amigurumi right now), read or watch documentaries (I am a big nerd and love learning). Generally speaking, I am almost never without my dog, a good snack, and a pen.
