Counselling Intern Program

At Burn Bright Counselling, we have a Counselling Intern program where supervised Counselling Interns provide counselling support over a 6-8 month minimum period of time. There is opportunity to continue working with your intern once they have completed their internship. This program offers clients an opportunity to access much needed support at a reduced rate and offers our Interns the opportunity to provide queer affirming counselling with Clinical Supervision.

All of our Counselling Interns have completed academic requirements of their degrees in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Child and Youth Care or a comparable field of study. They are supervised under one of our registered clinical team to complete their required counselling experience to obtain their degrees and will see a range of clients within their scope of practice. Each Intern will come to practice with difference prior professional and educational experience that will inform who they will be working with at Burn Bright Counselling.

As a part of the interns’ degree requirements and their clinical supervision, they will be receiving direct feedback from their supervisor during their internship. In order to provide the highest quality of feedback and as per degree requirements, Interns are required to record (video or audio) some of their sessions. These recordings are only viewed by the Intern and their Clinical Supervisor. All recordings are stored and kept within privacy laws and are destroyed after supervision is complete. You are not required to agree to having your sessions recorded and are able to revoke your consent at any time during your therapeutic support.
